Transom transducers are suitable for many types of boats including those with fiberglass, aluminium, steel or wooden hulls. They work well in both fresh and salt water when installed correctly.
These transducers should be installed to the stern of your boat, away from anything which may cause interference. Starboard of your boat propeller usually provides a better performance and when installing ensure there is room for clean water flow across the face of the transducer and a clear line for the vertical beam to reach the bottom.
The plus side of using a transom transducer is that it is easy to install and there is no need to drill any holes through the hull of your boat. You will find it provides a good fishfinder performance on a range of small to medium sized boats.
